13 types of food that are the basis of a healthy diet in kidney disease

Foods rich in antioxidants neutralize free radicals and protect the human body. This is the type of food recommended for chronic kidney disease.
Scientists are increasingly pointing to the link between chronic diseases, inflammation and healthy foods.

These products can prevent the oxidation or oxidation of fatty acids.

Normally, oxidation is a normal process, although excessive oxidation produces free radicals that damage the body’s cell membranes, proteins, and lipids. Oxidative damage is one of the causes of heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other chronic diseases.

Be warned that in the advanced stage of chronic kidney disease, the metabolism of sodium, potassium, phosphorus is sharply violated, so the recommended products should be selected by a doctor and decide which restriction is necessary and which element is necessary.

Red Bulgarian pepper

1/2 cup contains 1 mg sodium, 88 mg potassium, 10 mg phosphorus;

As we can see, it is low in sodium and has good taste properties, although this is not the reason why it is considered a recommended food for Bulgarian kidney disease. Such peppers are rich in vitamins C, A, B6, folic acid and fiber, and at the same time contain lycopene – an antioxidant that protects us from certain tumors.

Cabbage

1/2 cup contains 6 mg sodium, 60 mg potassium, 9 mg phosphorus;

Cabbage is a source of plant chemicals. These substances scavenge free radicals, protecting us from cancer and heart disease. Cabbage is rich in vitamins K, C, fiber, vitamin B6, folic acid. It is low in sodium and cheap at the same time – these properties make cabbage an integral part of the diet.

Cauliflower

1/2 cup contains 9 mg sodium, 88 mg potassium, 20 mg phosphorus;

Cauliflower is a source of vitamin C, fiber and folate. Its components help the liver to destroy free radicals.

garlic

1 clove contains 1 mg of sodium, 12 mg of potassium, 4 mg of phosphorus;

Garlic protects against the formation of plaque on the teeth, lowers cholesterol, reduces inflammation.

Onion

1/2 cup contains 3 mg sodium, 116 mg potassium, 3 mg phosphorus;

Onions are not the only cause of housewife tears. It is rich in flavonoids, which contributes to its antioxidant properties. Onions are high in chromium, a micronutrient essential for carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism.

Apple

1 medium-sized peeled apple contains 158 mg of potassium, 10 mg of phosphorus, no sodium in it;

Apples are known to lower cholesterol, prevent constipation, reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. Fruits rich in fiber and anti-inflammatory components are truly unique.

Blueberries

1/2 cup fresh blueberries contains 4 mg sodium, 65 mg potassium, 7 mg phosphorus;

Cranberries are rich in antioxidants, particularly anthocyanins, which give it a blue color. Cranberries are a source of vitamin C, magnesium and fiber. In addition, blueberries protect the brain from the changes associated with aging. Experimental studies have shown that blueberries, like other berries, reduce bone changes that develop when estrogens (female hormones) are depleted.

Raspberry

1/2 cup raspberries contains 93 mg of potassium, 7 mg of phosphorus, it does not contain sodium;

The substances in raspberries also help protect cells from free radicals. Raspberries are the best source of magnesium, vitamin C, fiber and folate, B vitamins.

Strawberries

1/2 cup fresh or 5 medium-sized strawberries contains 1 mg sodium, 120 mg potassium, 13 mg phosphorus;

There are two types of phenols in strawberries. One of them gives this berry a red color and protects it from oxidative damage to cells. Strawberries are a source of vitamin C, magnesium and fiber.

Cherries

1/2 cup fresh sweet cherries contains 160 mg of potassium, 15 mg of phosphorus, it does not contain sodium;

Cherries in daily intake reduce inflammation, protect the heart

Red grapes

1/2 cup red grapes contains 1 mg sodium, 88 mg potassium, 4 mg phosphorus;

Red grapes contain flavonoids, which give it color. Flavonoids reduce oxidation, protect the heart, prevent blood clots.

Egg whites

2 egg whites contain 7 grams of protein, 110 mg of sodium, 108 mg of potassium, 10 mg of phosphorus;

Egg protein is known to be a source of high quality protein and contains essential amino acids for the body. Unlike other sources of protein, it is poor in phosphorus.

Fish

90 grams of salmon contains 50 mg of sodium, 368 mg of potassium, 274 mg of phosphorus;

Fish is a source of high quality protein and anti-inflammatory fat – omega-3. We have already talked about its benefits above.

Olive oil

1 tablespoon of olive oil contains less than 1 mg of sodium, less than 1 mg of potassium, does not contain phosphorus;

Olive oil is an important source of anti-inflammatory substance – oleic acid. The monounsaturated fat in it protects us from oxidation. In addition, the polyphenols in olive oil are important.
