How to eat to prevent myocardial infarction? When there is a long and strong imbalance between the oxygen demand in the heart muscle and its supply, and the blood vessel lumen is narrowed by 70-80%, a person begins to have an angina attack.
Angina pectoris is one of the previous manifestations of myocardial infarction. Complete occlusion of blood vessels develops myocardial infarction.

Treatment of stable angina aims to alleviate the symptoms of angina, prevent myocardial infarction and death, and ultimately aims to improve the quality of life. At this time it is very important to follow a diet and choose the right ration.

Meals are needed 4-5 times a day in small portions, the amount of table salt should not exceed 5 per day Grams. The dish should be prepared without salt. You can add a little (5 g) of salt directly before eating.

Fatty foods should be limited, smoked products should be removed from the diet altogether.

Fruits, vegetables – should be eaten in abundance.

They improve intestinal motor function by promoting the excretion of cholesterol and its metabolic products from the body.

Restricted to potatoes only – it is high in calories due to its starch content and increases body mass.

Cereals – Buckwheat, Hercules, wheat are good, they provide cholesterol.

Bread – it is better to be white, avoid cakes.

Fat – only vegetable.

Meat products – Poultry white (it can be eaten 2-3 times a week), cooked lean beef are allowed. Cholesterol is contained in large amounts in the brain, liver, kidneys, so their intake is not allowed.

Eggs – it contains cholesterol. Only 1 piece per week is allowed. Caviar is also restricted.

Fish – can be eaten in abundance, even fatty, boiled or stewed.

Dairy products – milk, kefir, yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese. I do not recommend sour cream as a fatty product. Cheese – in limited quantities, even in the first half of the day.

Diet and ration during myocardial infarction

  • Daily calorie intake is 1000 or 1500 kcal;
  • Food is given to the patient in small portions and often (5-6 times a day);
  • Food is easy to digest, contains no cholesterol and animal fats;
  • The daily amount of salt does not exceed 4-5 grams, and the amount of water – 1 liter, sometimes even more limited;
  • It is advisable that the food does not cause gastrointestinal upset.

In the first days of myocardial infarction, the patient can take low-fat dairy products (sour, cottage cheese), biscuits, mineral water, fruit juices, dried fruits, black plums, vegetable oil. In the post-infarction period, prohibitions and restrictions are replaced by the principles of rational nutrition.
