Breast teeth – The baby erupts its first teeth at 6 months and by the age of 2-2.5 years it has 20 baby teeth.
There may be deviations in this scheme, and some babies are born with teeth at all!
Most children do not have any problems with their teeth. Teeth appear simply and painlessly. The number of teeth is not an indicator of rapid or slow development. If a child is anxious about brushing his teeth, irritated, refuses to eat and wants to drink all the water – these symptoms are not unique to brushing their teeth, so the mother should be careful not to steal other possible causes.
Excessive salivation is often a prerequisite for the emergence of new teeth. The child wants to chew everything he can get his hands on.
Toothache – an unpleasant sensation for people of any age, but for a little one it can create a special inconvenience. Because he can not explain exactly what hurts.
Cutting teeth can cause sore gums. By the age of 2 all the teeth are already erupted, so after this age the cause of the pain in the oral cavity must be something else.
Falling can also cause toothache, which is difficult to diagnose at first. This requires an examination of the mouth – whether the child has a bruised mucous membrane of the mouth or lips, bleeding in the mouth. In case of toothache it is necessary to consult a dentist. Initial caries can also cause toothache, and until you find a decayed tooth, the child may complain of episodic pain.
Prevention
Prevention of caries and gum disease is possible. Teach your baby to take care of his mouth from an early age and he will have healthy teeth for the rest of his life. Gum disease is rare at a young age, but caries can be a problem for even the youngest.
- Limit the amount of sugar and sugary drinks, the more often a child drinks sugar, the greater the likelihood of caries;
- Regular gnashing of teeth with fluoride-containing toothpaste is the prevention of caries;
- Replace sugary fizzy drinks with more wholesome, sugar-free drinks – herbal teas, asparagus tinctures;
- Never give a baby a sweet drink in the bottle he or she sucks at night. This can lead to tooth decay;
- Consulting a dentist from an early age (recommended from 2 years) is a prerequisite for early detection of problems and their timely elimination.
Teeth cleaning
Get your baby used to brushing his teeth after breakfast and at bedtime. This is necessary to keep the teeth healthy for a long time.
Start brushing your baby as soon as they get up. First use a soft cloth wrapped around your finger, then gradually switch to a baby toothbrush. Use baby fluoride toothpaste to prevent tooth decay. The formula of baby toothpaste is such that they contain the necessary amount of fluoride and at the same time have a pleasant taste. Teach your child to brush their teeth, actively help from the beginning. Buy a new toothbrush for your child and try to make brushing a fun activity.
Finger sucking
Parents perceive finger sucking tragically and think it is bad for the teeth. However, this habit rarely damages the teeth and the child forgets about it by himself.
The finger can suck the baby to gain self-confidence. By banning it, you are suppressing it.
If the baby’s teeth move slightly forward due to finger sucking or other pressure, they usually return to their place without any treatment as soon as the baby becomes accustomed to finger sucking.
Sometimes a child can not get rid of this habit for a long time, then it is necessary to consult a neurologist to rule out the symptoms of anxiety, which can be suffocated by finger sucking.
